Understanding the "/y/" Folders on Your Server

If you've noticed "/y/" folders appearing in your server directories, particularly inside sudo user folders, you may be wondering what they are and whether they are related to cPFence.

What Are These "/y/" Folders?

The "y" folders are cache folders created by Wordfence CLI, a virus scanner that cPFence utilizes for additional security scanning. These folders are automatically generated by Wordfence during scanning processes.

Why Are They Created in User Home Directories?

Unfortunately, we do not control where Wordfence CLI creates these cache folders. They are generated automatically by the scanner and may appear in user home directories instead of system-wide locations like /tmp.

Does cPFence Manage These Folders?

Yes, cPFence periodically cleans up these folders to prevent unnecessary file buildup. However, since Wordfence CLI recreates them as part of its normal scanning operation, they may reappear after scans.
